A viagem como ferramenta de construção de um imaginário arquitectónico : três casos de estudo

Abstract

O presente trabalho de investigação propõe-se a acompanhar três diferentes experiências de viagem num contexto arquitectónico. O principal objectivo é entender a influência da viagem na prática da arquitectura. Qual a importância de viajar para um arquitecto? Qual a relação da viagem com o resultado produzido? De que modo pode uma viagem, construir ou influenciar, um imaginário arquitectónico pessoal? Com estas premissas, a investigação centrou-se em três experiências de três arquitectos, Raul Lino, Le Corbusier e Fernando Távora. Todos eles referiram a importância das suas viagens, não apenas como uma ferramenta de projecto, mas também como uma experiência que influenciou o seu imaginário arquitectónico, e consequentemente a sua obra. Além da experiência e registos de viagem, investiga-se sobre a influência na prática de cada um dos arquitectos. De que modo as ideias absorvidas em viagem se reflectem na arquitectura construída, e num consequente imaginário presente em toda a sua arquitectura.

With the present research work is intended to study three different travelling experiences, in an architectural context. The main purpose is to understand the voyage’s influence in the architecture pratice. Which is the correlation between the travel journey and the produced projects? In which way can a voyage, construct or influence, a personal architecture imaginary? With this premisses, the research aimes for three travelling experiences from three architects, Raul Lino, Le Corbusier and Fernando Távora. All three referred the importance of travelling and their owns journeys, not only as a projectual tool, but also as an experience that influenced their architecture’s imaginary, and consequently their work. Along with the travelling experience, the notebooks and sketchs, its intended to understand this influence in the work of each these three architects. In which way, the ideas absorved while travelling, were important in future projects, and maybe a consequent imaginary present in their career.
