Atuação do serviço social no projeto de saúde e interpretação da mente (SIM)

Abstract

Este artigo aborda o tema da saúde mental em Portugal, apresentando dados epidemiológicos que destacam a escassez de respostas comunitárias para pessoas com experiência de doença mental. Neste contexto, com o intuito de mitigar as necessidades identificadas no âmbito da saúde mental, o Serviço de Saúde e Interpretação da Mente (SIM) apresenta-se como um projeto que atua de forma gratuita na comunidade através de uma equipa multidisciplinar composta por assistente social e outros profissionais que compõem a equipa multidisciplinar. Este projeto destina-se a pessoas com experiência de doença mental e suas famílias, oferece psicoeducação e capacitação no âmbito da saúde mental. O objetivo da intervenção é promover a reabilitação psicossocial e a autonomia das pessoas com experiência de doença mental, incluindo a família e demais pessoas significativas no processo, privilegiando os contextos naturais de vida da pessoa e seus pontos fortes e elos com a comunidade. O serviço social apresenta-se como fator facilitador e agregador do processo de integração e autonomização, tendo como base a salvaguarda dos direitos humanos.

This article approaches the topic of mental health in Portugal, presenting epidemiological data that highlight the scarcity of community responses for people experiencing mental disease. In this context, with the purpose of mitigate the needs identified in the field of mental health, the service of Saúde e Interpretação da Mente (SIM) is presented as a project that operates free of charge in the community through a multidisciplinary team composed by a social worker and other professionals who compose the multidisciplinary team. This project is intended to people with experience of mental disease and their families, offering psychoeducation and empowerment in the field of mental health. The objective of the intervention is to promote the psychosocial rehabilitation and autonomy of people experiencing mental disease, including the family and other significant people in the process, favoring the natural contexts of the person’s life and their strengths and bond with the community. The social work presents itself as a facilitating and aggregating factor in the process of integration and empowerment, based on the safeguarding of human rights.
