“Nada sobre nós sem nós” : a autodeterminação da pessoa com deficiência e o papel do assistente social sob a égide dos direitos humanos

Abstract

A autodeterminação é um direito inerente a todos os seres humanos. O lema “Nada sobre nós sem nós” fortalece a necessidade e a importância da reflexão sobre as pessoas com deficiência estarem ativamente envolvidas nos processos de tomada de decisão não só de suas vidas, mas também em políticas e programas que lhes dizem respeito. O presente trabalho, uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica, pretendeu analisar a relação do desenvolvimento da autodeterminação nas pessoas com deficiência e o papel do assistente social. Refletiu-se sobre o fortalecimento das trajetórias das pessoas com deficiência e as oportunidades de aprimoramento da qualidade de vida e autoestimas. Foi possível perceber o desenvolvimento das pessoas com deficiência sob o assessoramento do assistente social, a posterior ampliação de suas relações e a possibilidade de exercerem papéis sociais com maior independência na juventude e na vida adulta.

Self-determination is an inherent right of all human beings. The motto “Nothing about us without us” strengthens the need and the importance of the reflection on disabled people being actively involved in decision-making processes not only on their lives, but also in policies and programs that concern them. The present work, a literature review research, intended to analyze the relationship between the development of self-determination in disabled people and the role of the social worker. It reflected on the the trajectories’s strengthening of disabled people and opportunities to improve their quality of life and self-esteem. It was possible to perceive the development of disabled people under the advice of the social worker, the subsequent expansion of their relationships and the possibility of exercising social roles with greater independence in youth and adulthood.
