As catástrofes : capacidade vontade de encontrar soluções

Abstract

Este artigo é um depoimento breve sobre catástrofes, os seus principais factores caracterizadores, as principais causas das catástrofes de origem humana e as responsabilidades da humanidade, em particular das suas elites, na ocorrência dessas catástrofes e na procura das respectivas soluções. Entre outras razões, são invocadas as seguintes: incapacidade em dominar a complexidade da sociedade actual e das causas das catástrofes de origem humana; falta de eficácia dos mecanismos actuais de monitorização e controlo da evolução das sociedades; falta de "vontade" em aplicar soluções, que embora eficazes na prevenção e resolução das catástrofes, contrariam interesses sociais, económicos e políticos instalados. A actual crise económica e as alterações climáticas, estão entre algumas das situações catastróficas mais referenciadas e ambas estão muito longe da sua resolução... Sobretudo por falta de vontade.

This article is a brief testimony about catastrophes, their main characteristics, the main causes of human origin catastrophes and the responsibilities of humanity, especially its elites, in the occurrence of catastrophes and in seeking their solutions. Among other reasons, it emphasizes the following: inability to master the complexity of today's society and the causes of manmade disasters, lack of effectiveness of current mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the evolution of societies, lack of "will" to implement solutions that although effective in the prevention and resolution of catastrophes, conflict with installed social, economic and political interests. The current economic crisis and climate change are among some of the most referenced catastrophic situations, and both are very far from its resolution... especially for lack of will.
