Da representação arquitectónica

Abstract

Resumo: A motivação da escolha deste tema passa pela tentativa de perceber a evolução da representação arquitectónica, o percurso da visualização à materialização da ideia, a passagem do étereo ao físico, do imensurável ao mensurável, do poético ao funcional. Este percurso foi iniciado com uma abordagem histórica que se inicia com os conceitos primordiais do espaço e as suas representações e nos leva até a era da informação e das tecnologias digitais em que nos encontrámos. De um modo abrangente, procurou-se o seu entendimento através das mais diversas fontes que nesta tiveram, e continuam a ter influência, desde os seus métodos e meios às suas ferramentas, assim como as outras artes e ciências, da Pintura à Filosofia. Esta busca visou entender a evolução da representação e o seu efeito no desenvolvimento da Arquitectura. Procedeu-se à análise processual de Álvaro Siza, Frank Gehry e Bjarke Ingels, na qual se procurou descodificar o modus operandi por detrás de cada uma das linguagens arquitectónicas destes arquitectos de modo a melhor compreender as diferentes fases processuais, analógicas e digitais, que constituem a sua lógica processual. A Arquitectura vive como ideia, como um corpo etéreo definido pelos seus praticantes, cada formalização apenas lhe fornece um estado físico circunstancial que a representação torna possível. É a evolução desta linguagem da Arquitectura que procuramos abraçar de modo a perceber de onde vimos, onde estamos e para onde vamos.

Abstract: The motivation behind choosing this theme is to understand the evolution of the architectural representation, the path from visualization to the materialization of the idea, the passage from the ether to the physical, from the immeasurable to the measurable, from the poetic to the functional. This course began with a historical approach to the primordial concepts of space and its representations and takes us to the era of information and the digital technologies in which we currently are. In a comprehensive way, the understanding was sought through the most diverse sources that have had, and continue to have influence on it, from their methods and means to their tools, as well as other arts and sciences, from Painting to Philosophy. We sought to understand the evolution of representation and its effect on the development of Architecture itself. The work process of Álvaro Siza, Frank Gehry and Bjarke Ingels was analyzed, which sought to decode the modus operandi behind each of the architectural languages of these architects in order to better understand the different procedural, analog and digital stages, which constitute its logic. Architecture lives as an idea, as an ethereal body defined by its practitioners, each formalization only provides a circumstantial physical state that representation makes possible. It is the evolution of this language of Architecture that we seek to embrace in order to perceive where we have come from, where we are and where we are going.
