A arquitectura do espaço religioso : o caso de Miguel Fisac

Abstract

A presente dissertação pretende estudar a arquitectura religiosa de Miguel Fisac, feita no decorrer da segunda metade do século XX. Será estudada a sua vasta produção neste campo, realizada durante toda a sua vida, e a influência dos diferentes factores envolvidos neste processo, próprios do contexto em que viveu. Contexto que podemos separar entre europeu e espanhol. O Movimento Moderno presente na Europa fez com que a arquitectura estivesse envolvida num processo de renovação. Processo este que pretendia adequar as novas técnicas aos tempos presentes e perder as referências dos tempos passados. Por outro lado Espanha, afastada das correntes europeias de inovação, vivia uma situação de isolamento após o recente término da Guerra Civil. Este facto influenciou fortemente a arquitectura do país ao produzir um atraso na utilização de uma linha renovadora semelhante à europeia. Neste contexto enquadra-se Miguel Fisac através de exemplos da arquitectura religiosa europeia e espanhola realizada por arquitectos notáveis da época. Para conseguir perceber os fundamentos da sua obra sacra é fundamental fazer antes um percurso pela sua obra completa. No entanto, é necessário narrar a sua vida e as viagens que o autor realizou para conseguir conhecer a sua personalidade e o que influenciou o seu estilo pessoal. Desta maneira torna-se evidente que os factores mencionados são fulcrais no desenvolvimento da sua trajectória profissional. Através dos três casos de estudo seleccionados será demonstrado o processo de como o autor chega à sua obra eclesial, o tema principal e estudado nesta dissertação.

This dissertation intends to study the religious architecture of Miguel Fisac produced during the second half of the twentieth century. It will be studied the author’s vast creation in this field, carried out throughout his life and the influence that the different factors had in the process, specific to the context in which it lived. Context that we can separate between European and Spanish. The Modern Movement that was happening in Europe started a process of renovation in architecture. This process intended to adapt new techniques to present times and to lose references of the past. Under other conditions, far from the European innovations, Spain lived a situation of isolation after the recent end of the Civil War. A situation that strongly influenced the architecture of the country by delaying the use of a renewal line similar to the European. Miguel Fisac fits in this context through examples of European and Spanish religious architecture made by distinguished architects of the time. In order to understand the foundations of his sacred work it is essential to make a journey through his complete work. However, it is necessary to describe Fisac’s life and the trips that he has made to comprehend his personality and what influenced his personal style. It becomes evident that the aforementioned factors are essential in the development of the author’s professional trajectory. By the example of three case studies it will be shown the process of the author to his ecclesiastic work.
