Alvar Aalto e a essência humana da arquitectura

Abstract

Perante o actual rumo que a nossa sociedade tem vindo a seguir: motivada essencialmente por fundamentos económicos e focada em imaginários digitais e tecnológicos; o resultado é uma sociedade cada vez mais narcisista e hedonista, que habita uma arquitectura muitas vezes desprovida de emoções e afectos, e que por sua vez nos afasta da nossa verdadeira essência humana. Assim, sabendo que a arquitectura é “palco da vida humana”, manifestando por isso uma importância no dia-a-dia da vida do Homem, percebemos que para além de todo o seu carácter físico, a arquitectura assume uma função de ser mediadora entre nós e o mundo, necessitando de uma possante estrutura mental, profundamente enraizada biologicamente e culturalmente na realidade humana, de modo a estar em constante interacção com a mente humana. Neste sentido, torna-se relevante repensarmos o rumo actual que a arquitectura tende a seguir, explorando-a num sentido experiencial, como se tratasse de uma metáfora da existência humana, e de modo a conceber uma afinidade entre o Homem, o espaço construído e o seu mundo. É assim deste modo, possível construir uma arquitectura com significado, que possibilita “experiências significativas” e por sua vez atribui significado à nossa vida.

Considering the current direction that our society has been following: mainly motivated by economic fundamentals and focused on digital and technological imaginaries. The outcome is an increasingly narcissistic and hedonistic society, inhabiting an architecture devoid of emotions and affects, which in turn, distances us from our true human essence. Thereby, knowing that architecture is "the stage of human life", it also means that architecture expresses an important role in the daily life of common Man. Thus realizing that beyond all its physical character, architecture assumes a function of being a mediator between us and the world, demanding a powerful mental structure, deeply biologically and culturally rooted in human reality, in order to be in constant interaction with the human mind. In this sense, it is relevant to rethink the current course that architecture tends to following, exploring it in an experiential approach, as if it were a metaphor of human existence, and in order to conceive an affinity between Man, the constructed space and the world. In this way, it is possible to make meaningful architecture, which enables us to have "meaningful experiences", giving meaning to our own lives.
