Reabilitação da casa dos Lobatos em Guimarães : proposta para hotel de charme

Abstract

A proposta de recuperar uma casa brasonada chamada dos "Lobatos" em Guimarães, adaptando o edificado para novas funções, pretende revitalizar o quarteirão da Caldeiroa, através da vivência do espaço e da valorização do seu significado histórico e arquitetónico. A cidade de Guimarães em especial o seu centro histórico tem vários destes exemplos que testemunham a sua história ao longo dos tempos, defendendo sempre o património já edificado. A reabilitação da casa dos "Lobatos" e a construção de um outro edifício de origem, ligados entre si, engloba conceitos tão diversos como, o passado, a tradição, a modernidade e o futuro.

Com base na dissecação dos vários casos similares de referência apresentados poderemos considerar que, não existe uma única forma mais ou menos correta para intervir no património. Entendemos que cada caso deve ser estudado individualmente, tendo em conta as suas especificidades, principalmente no que diz respeito ao valor patrimonial, ao estado de conservação e ao programa que se propõe. A reabilitação urbana dos centros históricos remete-nos, também, para o turismo enquanto setor de atividade com maior possibilidade de inserção nestes espaços, porque só uma cidade que se renova pode ambicionar atrair mais visitantes. Neste trabalho pretendemos integrar o projeto de um hotel de "Charme" com o tecido urbano existente. A memória do lugar foi, no nosso caso, uma das chaves para a criação arquitetónica, e uma característica intrínseca ao projeto. Se construir, à partida, significa adicionar algo de novo, então um projeto de arquitetura não pertence a um lugar somente por ter sido edificado nele, mas antes por incorporar a sua história e a sua memória, recuperando-a, e dando-a a conhecer.

Abstract:

The proposal to recover an emblazoned house called "Lobatos" in Guimarães, adapting the building to new functions, intends to revitalize the whole block of Caldeiroa, Through the experience of the spaces and appreciation of its historic and architectural meaning. There are lots of examples like this one, which witness the making of History, scattered through the city of Guimarães, more specifically in its historic centre, always protecting the heritage which was already built. The rehabilitation of the "Lobatos" house and the construction of a new building, whose origins will be connected with the first one, covers notions as miscellaneous as past, tradition, modernism and future.

Based on the evaluation of the shown similar referenced cases we can conclude that there is not just a way, less or more correct, to intervene in the heritage. We understand that each case should be studied by its own, considering its characteristics mainly in what considers its value, to the preservation state and the program that is suggested. The urban rehabilitation of the historic centers brings us tourism as the activity with best chances of success in this spaces because only a city that renews itself can attract more visitors.

With this essay we intend to instate our Hotel de Charme project with the urban tissue already existentr. The memories of this place were, to us, one of the main keys to the architectural creation and an intrinsic feature of the project. If building means, supposedly, to add something new, then a architecture project doesn't belong to a place just because it was built there but because it embodies its memories and history, recovering them and showing them to the world
