Reflexões sobre as noções de Liberdade e de Dignidade do Homem no mundo grego antigo

Abstract

O artigo pretende salientar que há ecos do mundo antigo grego que se manifestam no homem como ser de cultura (ocidental). Ele pretende mostrar como é que o homem antigo grego lê a importância que tinha para si as noções de justiça humana e de justiça divina, tal como aparece em "Antígona" e em "Críton"; a relevância que tinha para si a sepultura, tal como é manifesto na primeira e na "Ilíada"; o valor da liberdade e da dignidade, expresso por Homero, e a relação simultaneamente próxima e distante, entre homens e deuses, assunto que Píndaro trata, e como é que o homem antigo grego considera a sua posição perante o destino e a responsabilidade, pensando em Sófocles e em "Rei Edipo".

The article intends to point out that there are echoes from the ancient greek world which manifest themselves in the man as culture being (western). It intends to show how the ancient greek man reads the importance that had for himself the notions of human justice and of divine justice, as it appears in "Antigone" and in Críton"; the relevance that had for himself the grave, as it is manifest in the first and in "Iliad"; the value of freedom and of dignity, expressed by Homer, and the relation, simultaneously near and distant, between men and gods, subject that Pindar deals with, and how the ancient greek man considers his position before destiny and responsibility, thinking about Sophocles and about "Oedipus Rex".
