O percurso cultural como forma de intervir no património : reabilitação do Forte do Cão

Abstract

A presente dissertação vem abordar a importância do estudo do Percurso Cultural como meio de intervenção no património arquitectónico. Em suma, este trabalho visa entender a reabilitação do património construído como o ponto de contacto entre a (re)valorização da ruína e a relevância do percurso enquanto veículo de intercâmbio cultural. Através do enriquecimento da experiência do caminhante, enquanto utilizador de lugares e percursos, pretende-se desenvolver uma estratégia que integre percurso, lugar e cultura, a fim de intervir na paisagem, e sobretudo, no património arquitetónico que a consitui. Partindo do entendimento teórico dos valores associados ao Percurso Cultural, procura-se estabelecer um diálogo entre a ruína e a essência da peregrinação – seguindo o pressuposto de que o peregrino, na sua jornada, interioriza uma busca pessoal e instrospetiva, guiado por motivações e significados pessoais que, nem sempre são religiosos, mas também recreativos. Posteriormente ao estudo do Percurso Cultural como valor inerente à intervenção no Património Arquitetónico, o caso de estudo prático vem justificar e concluir a metodologia de reabilitação do monumento, que hoje, ao abandono, permanece na paisagem esquecido, na iminência de devolver um novo programa que complemente e valorize o lugar onde se insere. Parte integrante deste estudo é “ler” a ruína, a partir da sua identidade e valores adquiridos, e da sua relação com o território e a paisagem, procurando sublinhar os elementos identitários do local. A intervenção no Forte terá o objetivo de valorizá-lo como objeto arquitetónico de apoio ou complemento, numa rota, que ainda hoje tem centenas de utilizadores.

This dissertation is based in the importance of studying the Cultural Route as a means of intervention in Architectural Heritage. In short, this work aims to understand the rehabilitation of built heritage as the point of contact between the (re)valuation of ruin and the relevance of the route as a way for the cultural exchange. Trough the enrichment of the walker’s experience, as a user of places and routes, it is intended to develop a strategy that integrates route, place and culture, in order to intervene in the landscape, and above all, in the architectural heritage that constitutes it. Starting from the theoretical understanding of the values associated with the Cultural Route, an attempt is made to establish a dialogue between Man and the Landscape – following the assumption that the pilgrim, or hiker, in his journey internalizes a personal and introspective search, guided by personal motivations and meanings which are not always religious but also recreational and cultural. Subsequent to the study of the Cultural Route as an inherent value of intervention in Architectural Heritage, the practical case study comes to justify and conclude the methodolgy for the rehabilitation of the monumento, that today, abandoned, remains in the landscape, forgotten, on the imminence of returning a new program that complemente and enhance the place where it is inserted. An integral part of this study is to “read” the pre-existing building, from the identity and acquired values, and its relationship with the territory and the landscape, seeking to underline the identity elements of the place. The intervention in the Forte do Cão will have the objective of valuing it as an architectural objecto of support or complemente, in a route that even today has hundreds of users.
