Tempo e beleza : uma intemporalidade na arquitectura popular do Litoral Alentejano

Abstract

O desenvolvimento da Arquitectura Popular enquanto singularidade nacional, na região do Litoral Alentejano, compõe o tema central da presente dissertação. A investigação pretende contribuir e aprofundar o conhecimento sobre a evolução da Arquitectura Tradicional, reconhecida como “à portuguesa”. Através de uma comparação de épocas, inicia-se o presente trabalho por uma análise com especial ênfase nos anos 60, após o Inquérito à Arquitectura Popular em Portugal, intersectando o Pós-Modernismo dos anos 80, e por fim a Contemporaneidade do século XXI. O Inquérito proporcionou uma tradução dos novos caminhos inspirados nas “antigas” correntes regionalistas. Através de uma interpretação de vários aspectos e expressões do processo projectual e tendo em consideração as diversidades do local e a sua relação com o espaço, conjugou-se os conceitos Tempo e Beleza. Estes conceitos formulam, de certa forma, os requisitos necessários para a escolha dos casos seleccionados que mantiveram as obras intemporais até à sua actualidade. A presente dissertação visa mostrar a aplicabilidade do inquérito elaborado, que permite caracterizar e identificar as tipologias habitacionais do Litoral Alentejano.

The development of Popular Architecture as a national singularity in the Alentejo Coast region is the central theme of this dissertation. The research aims to contribute and deepen the knowledge about the evolution of Traditional Architecture, recognize as “portuguese style”. Through a comparison of times, the present work begins with na analysis with special emphasis on the 60’s after the Popular Architecture Survey in Portugal, intersecting the postmodernism of the 80’s and finally the contemporaneity in the 21st century. The survey provided a translation of the new paths inspired by the “old” regional flows. Through an interpretation of varius aspects and expressions of the project phase and taking into account the diversity of the place and is relationship with space, the Time and Beauty concepts were combined. Those concepts formulate, to a certain extent, the necessary requirements for choosing the selected cases that have kept the work timeless to the present day. This dissertation aims to show the applicability of the elaborated survey, wich allows to characterize and identify the housing typologies of the Alentejo Coast.
