Percorrer por assunto he following dissertation aims to clarify the possibility of exercising the right to acknowledge the genetic ancestry for those conceived by heterologous medically assisted procreation and by adoptees. The scientific evolution verified in the field of biomedicine has generated several consequences in the scope of Constitutional Law, Medical Law and Civil Law. The issues that were not discussed before lead to conflict between the doctrine and the jurisprudence, due to the fact that the right to know the origins conflicts with the right to maintain the anonymity. Thus, the fundamentals of the right to acknowledge the genetic origin in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, the techniques of medically assisted procreation, the search for the child´s ancestry generated by heterologous medically assisted procreation, the anonymity of the donor and finally about the right to search for ancestry by the adoptee. The methodology used to prepare this master´s dissertation is the principle of analogy, the doctrine, the Law of Medically Assisted Procreation and the Legal Regime of the Adoption Process.
